Q: Do you remove or replace condensate pans, cooling coils, supply fans, or other AHU components, and is there any demolition or construction involved?
A: No. We do not remove or replace any components inside the air handler, and no demolition or construction is involved. The installation simplicity of our solution is the beauty of it. Nothing is removed, and repairs to condensate pans and floors are made in-place, allowing for minimal operational downtime of the unit.
Q: Are odors an issue with the AQUIS System?
A: No. The AQUIS System contains zero VOCs and no detectable odors both during and after installation. During the installation process the air handler is isolated by sealing off adjacent duct work, and through the use of negative air machines equipped with HEPA and charcoal filtration. We have worked inside air handlers serving some of the most critical environments imaginable (hospital ICUs, operating rooms, biotech and pharmaceutical laboratories, etc.), and we are frequently told that nobody had any idea we were there.
Q: What’s the downtime with installation?
A: The AQUIS System is installed in two 8-hour work sessions, typically after-hours and into the middle of the night when general occupancy and facility HVAC requirements are in less demand. Immediately following each 8-hour session, normal AHU operation can resume. We are happy to help accommodate you with any special scheduling requirements you may have.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Due to the many variations and sizes of commercial air handling units, we would first need to visit your facility to take measurements and assess the overall condition of the units. We are well-versed in scaling projects to work with both active FY maintenance budgets and capital planning budgets, and we will work with you to fit your needs and overall objectives. We also offer volume discounts. Generally speaking, the cost of refurbishing your air handling units factors out to be approximately 5 - 10% of the total costs to replace them. The savings achieved can then be put towards other pressing facilities’ needs.
Q: What’s the life expectancy after installation?
A: The AQUIS System extends the life of your air handling units by an additional 10+ years by way of our extended warranty. Considering the average life expectancy of most air handlers is 20-30 years, this increases the life expectancy by at least 33%, and even up to 50%.
Q: Do you refurbish outdoor plenums?
A: Yes, weather permitting.
Q: Do you coat cooling towers?
A: No, not at this time, but we are currently working on solutions for cooling towers.
Q: What sets you apart from the competition?
A: Air handler refurbishment is a very niche HVAC systems specialty, and AQUIS is the only solution available that’s fully compliant with fire codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, Joint Commission, EPA and others. Fire code compliance is essential when using supplemental materials inside an air handler, so we urge you to do your homework ask questions. Not only is AQUIS compliant with NFPA 90A – but we can prove it.
