Monitoring

Real-time Fouling Metrics

Challenging to measure and overlooked by building management systems (BMS), coil fouling is a blind spot for your operation. SmartCoil delivers unparalleled visibility into the fouling performance of your AHU coils.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE COIL FOULING?

  • Until now, measuring coil fouling has been mostly guesswork.
  • Visual inspection of coils is inaccurate, as coils that appear clean from the outside are often heavily fouled in their interior.
  • Differential pressure testing is misleading in that it quantifies the resistance to air flow but fails to account for the impact of heat transfer.

THE BETTER WAY TO MEASURE COIL FOULING

    • Until now, a universal measure for coil fouling has not existed.
    • The SmartCoil AI algorithm uses seven different measurements to calculate the coefficient of thermal resistance (R) of the coil.
    • The calculated R is used in conjunction with other metrics to provide a measure of the rate and magnitude of coil fouling.

COIL FOULING METRICS MADE EASy

  1. Coil Fouling Level
Reported on a 0 to 100+ scale where 100 represents a coil in immediate need of cleaning.
  2. Months to Next Cleaning
The coil fouling rate is used to determine the most cost effective cleaning frequency.
  3. Fouling Level Indicator
The Gateway logo changes color to correspond with the fouling level, allowing for immediate recognition at the AHU.

THE BENEFITS OF MEASURING COIL FOULING

Smart Savings

SmartCoil ensures that coil cleaning is conducted in the ideal timeframe which simultaneously minimizes energy costs and maintenance costs.

Smart Scheduling

SmartCoil enables Condition Based Monitoring (CbM) of coils by alerting you or your service provider directly as to when to schedule service.

Smart Maintenance

SmartCoil enhances Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) by allowing you to proactively address coil fouling, preventing permanent damage and avoiding premature coil replacement.
